Sands China Holds 10th Because We Care Team Member Awards
Exemplary team members honoured for embodying company’s culture of service
(Macao, Nov. 18, 2018) – Sands China Ltd. honoured some of its more outstanding team members at the 10th edition of its Because We Care Team Members Awards Thursday at The Parisian Macao.
Started in 2013, the awards recognise team members who exemplify the company’s Because We Care culture of service, which consists of four cultural values: We Are Friendly, We Are Professional, We Are Active Listeners, and We Are One Team.
Sands China is very pleased to see our Because We Care service culture becoming fully integrated into the daily work of our team members over the last five years,” said company president Dr. Wilfred Wong. “Nominees in this 10th edition of the awards represent 24 different departments, which is a 60 per cent increase compared to the first awards ceremony. We’re also seeing a wide distribution of seniority among our top nominees, spanning new team members all the way up to long-serving team members of seven years or more. Sands China is very proud of its team members for their ability to translate these cultural values into exceptional service toward our guests and toward each other.”
For this edition of the awards, more than 300 individuals and teams were nominated during the March-August nomination period, with over 1,000 team members nominated in total. Previous editions of the awards comprised more than 2,700 nominations, with over 7,200 team members nominated in total.
Top nominees in the 10th edition of the awards include 17 team and cross-departmental nominations, demonstrating the highly effective teamwork taking place both within and between different departments. The success of these collaborations is reflected by the 240 per cent increase in the number of team and cross-departmental nominations since the first edition of the awards in 2013.
To select award nominees, Sands China team members are able to participate in a company-wide nomination process. Top individual and team nominations are then shortlisted by a judging panel of previous award winners. Finally, all team members are invited to vote for their favourite nominees, resulting in gold, silver and bronze winners in seven award categories: Influential Service, Exceptional Spirit, Impressive Performance, ECO360 Live Green, People’s Choice, Best Leadership, and Outstanding Teamwork.
Nominees’ team members, family, and friends attended Thursday’s awards ceremony at The Parisian Ballroom. All nominees receive thank you certificates from Sands China, and a variety of prizes are awarded to top nominees and award winners.
