Brian Cha Leads Sands China’s Second Celebrity Mentor Workshop for Macao Retail Professionals

Sands China’s workshop series promotes the advancement of Macao’s retail sector

(Macao, Dec. 02, 2018) – Motivational speaker and entrepreneur Brian Cha conducted a workshop on sales and consumer behaviour Tuesday at The Venetian® Macao, as part of the Celebrity Mentor Workshop Series co-organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office and Sands China Ltd.

The workshops give retail employees a chance to learn from experts in their respective fields, better equipping them to provide the best experience for shoppers. Around 120 retail professionals attended Cha’s Tuesday session at The Venetian’s Adelson Advanced Education Center, where he covered topics like using the latest sales techniques and attracting customers to take a proactive approach while shopping.

“The Celebrity Mentor Workshop Series is an important way for our company to continue our support for the development of Macao’s retail professionals,” said David Sylvester, Executive Vice President of Global Retail for Las Vegas Sands Corp. “Participants are able to derive inspiration and gain practical skills from these celebrity-led sessions. They are then able to apply the knowledge and skills learned to deliver outstanding shopping experiences for locals and visitors alike, in support of Macao’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”

Four workshops have been planned for the Celebrity Mentor project, each session targets to train around 120 participants. The first workshop in the series was conducted last month by Hong Kong actress and UK-accredited trainer Astrid Chan on the topic of personal branding.

Celebrity Mentor is an initiative aimed at continually advancing the service quality of the retail industry in Macao. Launched in 2013, it offers complimentary customer service training to the retail professionals at Sands Shoppes – made up of Shoppes at Venetian, Shoppes at Four Seasons, Shoppes at Londoner, and Shoppes at Parisian.

The Sands Retail Academy is the result of a collaborative effort between Sands Retail and Sands China’s Human Resources department. It is one of the initiatives of the broader Sands China Academy, which is focused on the career development of both Sands China team members and local Macao talent, like those employed by Sands China’s retail partners.

The work of the Sands Retail Academy helps its participants offer outstanding customer service and increases their skills to help further develop their careers. The academy is part of Sands China’s long-term commitment to developing local talent in Macao by nurturing locals who are not direct employees of Sands China. Over the past five years, it has delivered approximately 30,000 training hours for more than 8,000 frontline employees of Sands Shoppes retailers to date.
